 | Description | |
A young man wearing a red hat stares out at the viewer in three-quarter profile. This format was traditionally favored by Netherlandish artists. Italian painters had instead tended to depict sitters in strict profile. Further affinities with Netherlandish art can be seen in the style and technique of the panel. It is in excellent condition but has been cut at the lower edge.
