Christ kneels in prayer on an altar-like mound and angels appear to him bearing the instruments of his future torture and death (known as the Passion). The three disciples who Christ asked to pray with him lie asleep. In the distance Judas leads the Roman soldiers who arrest Christ. The walled city filled with Roman monuments is Jerusalem.
