 | Description | |
The Mexican Embassy has been erected on the plot of land at Klingelhoeferstraße 3 on the corner with Rauchstraße 27 opposite the Copper band of the Nordic Embassies. The architects, Teodoro Gonzalez de Leon and Francisco Serrano, have designed a building in a very striking style. The Mexican Embassy, designed by Teodoro González de León and Francisco Serrano, has a facade of stylized columns, behind which an atrium includes nods to Mayan design, such as a pyramidlike garden and a cylindrical form reminiscent of Chichén-Itzá. The outside layers of the facade on Klingelhoeferstraße and Rauchstraße are formed by roof-high, vertical-slanting concrete elements which create the impression of a slatted curtain. Behind this facade there is a series of structures grouped around a cylindrical volume which gives them spatial cohesion. The new embassy building has been inaugurated in november 2000.
